Overview

Argireline is a synthetic hexapeptide used topically for wrinkle reduction. Marketed as "Botox in a bottle". Works by inhibiting SNARE complex formation, reducing muscle contractions similar to botulinum toxin.

Mechanism of Action

Fragment of SNAP-25 protein. Inhibits SNARE complex assembly, reducing neurotransmitter release at neuromuscular junctions. Reduces facial muscle contractions topically.

Quick Reference

Common Dose 5-10% solution
Frequency 2x daily (topical)
Half-Life N/A (topical)
Storage Store at room temperature. Topical solution/serum.

Notes

Limited skin penetration (<0.2% after 24h). 17-27% wrinkle reduction in 15-30 days. Large molecular weight (889 Da) limits absorption.
