Overview

Lenomorelin (ghrelin) is a 28 amino acid peptide hormone produced primarily in the stomach. Known as the "hunger hormone" - stimulates appetite and growth hormone release. Requires octanoylation at Ser3 for biological activity.

Mechanism of Action

Binds ghrelin receptor (GHSR) in hypothalamus and pituitary. Stimulates appetite, GH secretion, and gastric motility. Requires acylation for receptor binding.

Quick Reference

Common Dose 1-5mcg/kg
Frequency Research use (IV infusion)
Half-Life ~10-13 minutes (acyl form)
Storage Refrigerate. Acyl form less stable than desacyl form.

Notes

Endogenous hormone - not typically used therapeutically. Desacyl ghrelin has longer half-life (~30 min) but lacks GHSR activity.
