Also Known As

Mitochondrial ORF of the 12S rRNA Type-C

Overview

MOTS-c is a 16 amino acid peptide encoded by the mitochondrial genome. Regulates metabolic homeostasis, glucose metabolism, and insulin sensitivity. Activates AMPK pathway.

Mechanism of Action

Activates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), enhancing glucose uptake and fatty acid oxidation. Regulates the folate-methionine cycle.

Quick Reference

Common Dose 5-10mg
Frequency 2-3x weekly
Half-Life Short (unstable)
Storage Store frozen. Highly unstable at room temperature - degrades 85-90% in 2-3 hours.

Notes

Experimental peptide. Prohibited by WADA as AMPK activator. No completed human clinical trials.
